5 - WHY IT'S GOOD FOR YOU
HEALTH SPOTLIGHT: AVOCADO
Avocado is a nutrient-dense fruit, packed with vitamins (K, E, C) and minerals (potassium, magnesium). It supports heart health, boosts immunity, and promotes healthy skin. However, avocados are high in calories, so portion control is essential. Incorporate them wisely into your diet to enjoy their rich flavors and reap their numerous health benefits.
HEALTH SPOTLIGHT: SALMON
Salmon, a nutritional powerhouse, is rich in vitamins (B12, D) and minerals (selenium, potassium). It supports heart health, boosts brain function, and promotes strong bones. The omega-3 fatty acids in salmon reduce inflammation and improve overall well-being. Be mindful of consuming farmed salmon, which may contain pollutants. Opt for wild-caught salmon, preferrably Sockeye, for maximum health benefits.
Sauerkraut
Sauerkraut, a fermented delight, offers health benefits with its abundance of vitamins (C, K) and minerals (iron, manganese). It supports digestion, boosts immune function, and aids in detoxification. However, due to its high sodium content, individuals on low-sodium diets should consume it in moderation. Enjoy the tangy and crunchy goodness of sauerkraut as a flavorful addition to your meals, and experience the benefits of this probiotic-rich food.
HEALTH SPOTLIGHT: ONIONS
White and red onions offer impressive health benefits. White onions provide vitamin C, aiding immune function, and sulfur compounds for antibacterial properties. Red onions are rich in antioxidants, like anthocyanins, fighting inflammation and reducing the risk of cancers and heart disease. Both types provide fiber for digestive health. Incorporate these flavorful onions into your diet for a boost of nutrients and overall wellness.
HEALTH SPOTLIGHT: BRAZIL NUTS
Brazil nuts are a nutrient powerhouse packed with a wide array of essential vitamins, minerals, and healthy fats. These large, creamy nuts are an excellent source of selenium, a mineral known for its antioxidant properties and role in supporting immune function. Just a few Brazil nuts can provide your daily recommended intake of selenium. Additionally, they contain heart-healthy monounsaturated fats, protein, fiber, and essential minerals like magnesium, phosphorus, and zinc. Enjoying Brazil nuts as a snack or incorporating them into your meals adds a nutritious boost to your diet while delighting your taste buds with their rich, buttery flavor.
